About Us
अखिल भारतीय अखाड़ा परिषद
Akhil Bhartiya Akhada Parishad is the supreme governing body of all Hindu Akharas in India — the sacred religious orders of saints, sadhus, and ascetics who have been the guardians of Sanatan Dharma for centuries. Founded to bring unity and order among the diverse Akharas of India, the Parishad serves as the highest authority in matters of Hindu religious tradition, spiritual practice, and the welfare of the ascetic community across the nation.
Originally established as the Akhil Bharatiya Sadhu Samaj, the organization was later renamed Akhil Bhartiya Akhada Parishad. Its headquarters are located in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh — one of the holiest cities in India and the seat of the sacred Triveni Sangam.
The Parishad is headed by a President and guided by a Governing Council comprising representatives from each recognized Akhara. Multiple committees and sub-committees oversee specific religious, social, and administrative functions across India.
One of the most sacred responsibilities of the Parishad is organizing the grand Kumbh Mela — the world's largest human gathering held every 12 years at Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik, and Ujjain — coordinating the Shahi Snan and processions of all Akharas.
The Parishad is deeply committed to promoting and protecting the interests of the Hindu religion and its followers. It plays a vital role in upholding Sanatan Dharma, guiding religious discourse, and representing the spiritual community at the national level.
Beyond its religious mandate, the Parishad is actively engaged in charitable work — supporting hospitals, charitable institutions, and social welfare programs that provide aid to the underprivileged and marginalized communities across India.
The Parishad is the apex body managing and regulating the activities of all recognized Hindu Akharas — the ancient religious orders of sadhus, saints, and ascetics that form the spiritual backbone of Sanatan Dharma in India.
